Hi, I’m Matt Luongo.

I am a Research Physical Scientist at NOAA’s Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory in Seattle, WA.

My goal as a climate dynamicist and large-scale physical oceanographer is to understand the ocean’s role in driving past, present, and future climate variability and change through the lens of coupled ocean-atmosphere interactions. Check out my publications page for some recent studies!

I am a former CICOES Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Washington and I completed my PhD at Scripps Institution of Oceanography as a NASA FINESST Graduate Research Fellow. Prior to that, I graduated from Harvard University with a joint degree in Earth Science and Environmental Engineering and then worked as both a utility consultant and a research assistant for a land trust. In my free time you can find me exploring PNW natural spaces or catching live music.
